show ip interface


Displays information about interfaces running IP.

Syntax: show ip interface [brief] [composite-link name] [ethernet 0] [gbe bay/slot/port] [loopback 0] [pos bay/slot/port]

brief

Display summarized information.

composite-link name

Display information about the specified composite link interface.

ethernet 0

Display information about the ethernet 0 interface.

gbe bay/slot/port]

Display information about the specified Gigabit Ethernet interface.

loopback 0

Display information about the loopback 0 interface.

pos bay/slot/port

Display information about a the specified Packet Over SONET interface.

Description: Use the show ip interface command with no arguments to display information about all interfaces.

Use the show ip interface brief command to display information about all the interfaces in summary format.

Use the show ip interface composite-link name command to display information about the specified composite-link interface.

Use the show ip interface ethernet 0 command to display the configuration of the Ethernet interface used to support attachment of network management entities.

Use the show ip interface gbe bay/slot/port command to display information about the specified Gigabit Ethernet interface.

Use the show ip interface loopback 0 command to display the configuration of the loopback interface.

Use the show ip interface pos bay/slot/port command to display information about the specified POS interface.

Factory Default: None.

Command Mode: Executive and privileged.

Example 1: The following is sample output from the show ip interface command:

router>show ip interface

Ethernet 0 is up, line protocol is up

IP address is 10.210.93.51 /16

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 0 Mbps



Loopback 0 is up, line protocol is up

IP address is 10.10.10.10 /32

MTU 32768 bytes, BW 0 Mbps



POS 1/1/1 is up, line protocol is up

IP address is 201.1.1.10 /24

MTU 4470 bytes, BW 622 Mbps



POS 1/1/2 is administratively down, line protocol is down

IP address is 206.1.1.10 /24

MTU 4470 bytes, BW 622 Mbps

The following table describes the fields in the display:

Field Description

POS n/n/n is

Name and status of interface. Valid values for status are:

  • up - Interface is administratively up.

  • admin-down - Interface is administratively down

line protocol is

Administrative state of the line protocol on the interface.

IP address is

IP address and network mask assigned to the interface.

MTU

Maximum Transmission Unit size for the interface.

BW

Total bandwidth of the interface.

Example 2: The following is sample output from the show ip interface brief command:

router#show ip interface brief

Field Description

Interface

Name of interface.

IP Address

IP address assigned to interface.

IP Status

Status of interface. Valid values and their meanings are:

  • up - Interface is administratively up.

  • administratively down - Interface is administratively down.

Line Protocol

Operational status of the routing protocol on this interface.
