show ip bgp summary


Displays a summary of the status of all BGP connections.

Syntax: show ip bgp summary

Description: Use the show ip bgp summary command to the status of all BGP connections.

Factory Default: None.

Command Mode: Executive and privileged.

Example: The following is sample output from the show ip bgp summary command:

router#show ip bgp summary



BGP currently operating:

AS: 100

Router ID: 2.2.2.2

Cluster ID: 33686018





1009 unique routes and 1112 route instances using 161608 bytes of memory

4 path attribute entries using 432 bytes of memory

The following table describes the fields in the display:

Field Description

BGP currently operating AS

Identifies the autonomous system with which this router is associated.

Router ID

IP address that identifies this BGP router. See bgp router-id.

Cluster ID

Cluster identifier of this route reflector. Maximum of 4 bytes. See bgp cluster-id.

Memory usage

Three lines specifying memory usage for the specified number of unique routes, route instances, path attributes and community entries.

Neighbor

IP address of a neighbor.

V

Identifies the version of BGP spoken to that neighbor.

AS

Autonomous system number for that neighbor.

MsgRcvd

Number of BGP messages received from that neighbor.

MsgSent

Number of BGP messages sent to that neighbor.

State

The current state of the session:

  • Idle - ignore everything

  • Connect - trying to connect

  • Active - waiting for a connection

  • OpenSent - open packet has been sent

  • OpenConfirm - waiting for keepalive or notify

  • Estab - connection has been established

PF Rcvd

Number of routes received from the specified neighbor
